Earth Island Institute, founded in 1982 by veteran environmentalist David Brower, supports the biological and cultural diversity that sustain the environment through the institution’s New Leaders Initiative, annual Brower Youth Awards, award-winning Earth Island Journal, Restoration Initiatives Fund and is home to 45 innovative projects addressing a host of environmental, social justice, and indigenous culture issues. Earth Island, through education and activism, promotes the conservation, preservation, and restoration of the Earth. Earth Island fosters awareness and engagement towards a vital, sustainable future by growing environmental leadership.
