The Window Coverings Manufacturers Association (WCMA) has announced that Orion Ornamental Iron has won two new awards for drapery hardware.
“This is the second year in a row that Orion has won a prestigious WCMA Award,” said Atul Patel, president of Orion. “This year, we won two Drapery Hardware Awards. We again won the Best New Style Concept Award. -- this time for the Designers’ Choice SleekFascia Traversing, and the Most Innovative Overall Design Award for Clip-A-Crown, our new decorative metal valance for blinds.”
“We are honored that Orion was one of only two companies, from the many who entered the competition, to win two awards,” added Sunil Patel, CEO.
In 2009, Orion previously won the Best New Style Concept Award for Designers’ Choice Traversing, when the company introduced the new concept of iron or wood traversing rods with rings. The best selling Designers’ Choice traversing line was expanded in 2010 to include the new SleekFascia Traversing rods.
Winning products were chosen by a panel of industry leaders. Judges based product awards on their technical innovations and enhancements, style concepts and overall design.
Designers’ Choice offers traversing rods in iron or wood, with rings. SleekFascia, a new line with eight contemporary, traditional and transitional designs, offers distinctively different, decorative flat iron rods, with matching brackets, and with square rings. Both collections are available in single or double traversing, with finials from Orion’s extensive collections of iron and resin finials, track in four designer colors, in 31 Iron Art and 11 Wood Art finishes, plus custom colors. And both Designers’ Choice and SleekFascia can be motorized by Orion.
“Perhaps one of the best features, based on designer feedback,” added Atul Patel, ”is that we ship the finished rods in 15 business days and they are also shipped already assembled.”
“We introduced our new Clip-A-Crown program, and quite frankly, we got rave reviews from attendees at the Window Fashions Vision 10 Show held recently in Atlanta,” said Sunil Patel. The Clip-A-Crown decorative lightweight metal valance literally clips on the headrail of any new or existing blind. It is available in 20 designs, custom cut widths, 3 heights and 2 mounting styles, plus 31 Iron Art finishes.
“It’s a wonderful upgrade and “add-on” for designers to sell to customers who already have or are planning to order blinds. Clip-A-Crown offers a distinctive, custom look at a moderate price – great features to offer during these difficult economic times,” added Atul Patel.
Orion announces the introduction ofSleekFascia, an addition to its aware-winning Designers’ Choice line of heavy duty traversing rods. SleekFascia introduces a new, totally different look: luxurious, elegant, highly fashionable, yet with a moderate price point. Available in 8 different embossed metal designs, the new SleekFascia rods come in both single and double heavy duty track styles. Designs range from the simplicity of “Plumes” to the more intricate “Wood Fern” style.
All rods can be motorized, and are also offered with square rings on the front rod. The 8 SleekFascia styles are available in Orion’s 31 popular Iron Art finishes, plus custom, and the tracks come in Black, White, Antique Bronze and Gold.
“Our Designers’ Choice line is an industry first,” said Orion President Atul Patel, “since previously, heavy duty track was not available with rings. Other unique features include brackets which match the style of the SleekFascia rods, as well as a wide variety of finials from our extensive Iron Art Finial Collection. Perhaps best-- during this time for needed simplicity in installation, the rod sets are already assembled and shipped in heavy duty packaging in just 15 business days.”
Other major selling points of this new decorative traversing line include: rod sizes range up to 30 feet in length; rods available in either cord or baton draw, and wall or ceiling mount. The new SleekFascia line is an important expansion of Orion’s 2009 WCMA award-winning Designer’s Choice traversing hardware line.
Previously introduced Designers’ Choice heavy duty traversing rods are available in both iron and wood, and in both single and double traversing. Iron rods and finials are available in 31 Iron Art finishes and the wood rods come in 11 Wood Art finishes. Tracks are available in Black, White, Antique Bronze and Gold.

“We are very pleased to receive this important recognition of a program which combines several industry firsts,” said Sunil Patel, CEO of Orion. “Our new iron traversing rods are the result of much research and hard work on the part of Edward Siaotong and Atul Patel. We developed this concept in response to customer requests and a very clear industry need.”

ORION’S KBLAIR FINIALS WINS PLATINUM ADEX AWARD
Orion Ornamental Iron announced today that KBlair Finials, which it acquired in early 2008, has won the prestigious Platinum ADEX award for Window Treatments for 2009.
“We felt we had a winner when we acquired KBlair Finials last year, so it is especially gratifying for us to win the Platinum ADEX,” said Sunil Patel, CEO of Orion. “KBlair has uniquely innovative designs, offering hand-cut, mouth blown crystal finials and hand-painted wood resin finials, in addition to its distinctive line of Inlay Rods. Everything is custom-made to order in any of our 20 unique KBlair finishes.”

KBlair Finials, which is hand-made in the U.S.A., offers a complete line of custom drapery hardware, including traversing and round rods up to 30 feet in length, an extensive line of crystal and wood resin finials, and also brackets, rings, holdbacks and medallions.
